Magnetic Pulleys

Magnetic pulleys are essential components in conveyor systems, designed to efficiently and continuously separate ferrous materials from non-ferrous materials. By integrating a magnetic pulley at the head of a conveyor belt, you can ensure the removal of tramp iron and other magnetic contaminants, protecting downstream equipment and enhancing the purity of your final product. Our custom magnetic pulleys, crafted with robust stainless steel shells, are built to withstand harsh environments, making them ideal for a wide range of industries, including recycling, mining, and food processing.

What Is a Magnetic Pulley

A magnetic pulley is a specialized device that replaces the standard head pulley in a conveyor belt system to automatically and continuously remove ferrous (iron-containing) metals from bulk materials. These pulleys serve as magnetic separators that integrate seamlessly into existing conveyor systems to extract metal contaminants from the flow of raw materials.

How Magnetic Pulleys Work

The operating principle is straightforward:

  1. The pulley generates a magnetic field that covers its entire 360-degree circumference

  2. As material moves along the conveyor belt toward the discharge point, ferrous metals are attracted to this magnetic field

  3. Non-magnetic materials follow their normal trajectory and discharge over the pulley

  4. Ferrous metals remain attached to the belt due to magnetic attraction

  5. As the belt continues around and away from the pulley, it eventually passes out of the magnetic field, causing the ferrous materials to drop off into a separate collection area or bin

Types of Magnetic Pulleys

magnetic pulley with stainless steel housing

Magnetic Pulley With Stainless Steel Housing

The magnetic drum uses 304 and 316 stainless steel, while the magnetic pulley uses 304.

The housing makes the Gauss value smaller and the life longer.

magnetic pulley without housing

Magnetic Pulley without Housing

A magnetic pulley without a shell has more pull force and Gauss value than a magnetic pulley with a housing.
